Leadership

I joined QES in 1998 as Second in the English Department.  Since then I’ve been fortunate enough to have had several roles, the most long-standing being as Assistant Headteacher and Director of Sixth Form.  Latterly I was Deputy Headteacher and since 2017 I’ve been QES Headteacher.  Whilst everyone shares the responsibility of making sure QES is the best school it can be, my role is to keep the vision, standards and ethos high on everyone’s agenda – what a privilege that is!

I joined QES as Assistant Headteacher in 2020 and was previously Assistant Headteacher of a smaller school in Cumbria. My principal focus is the health and well-being of both staff and students, which this year has primarily mean helping to coordinate our Covid response and support. I already feel very much at home in our happy, caring and vibrant school community. 

I joined QES in September 2020 and I am thrilled to be a part of the team. I ensure that our curriculum is reviewed, we consider student voice, and that we provide a comprehensive and inclusive education for all students. I work closely with our Pupil Premium and Learning Support team and ensure students have the best chance of achieving through various interventions. I am passionate about staff development, leading a peer coaching group of teachers and facilitating external qualifications which help to develop teachers across Cumbria. I also teach English and I contribute to the developments of literacy and reading across the Trust.

I joined QES in 2008 as an Assistant Headteacher / Language College Director, and remain passionate about the importance and benefits of language learning. I currently lead on Teaching &Learning and CPD across the school, as well as being responsible for initial teacher training and NQT induction in both QES and across the South Lakes as the Appropriate Body coordinator for our TSA. I also have a safeguarding role in school as a DSL and lead on attendance, as well as taking responsibility for whole school literacy.

I’ve been a member of the Business department since 2000 and lead on the day to day operations within QEStudio including pastoral care. I also oversee Careers across the trust.

My role at school is a varied one. As well as responsibilities in QEStudio, I am also the Educational Visits Coordinator, oversee our management information system, and take care of day-to-routines such as school transport and events.

As well as teaching Chemistry I am the Designated Safeguarding Lead in school, liaising with external agencies where necessary. I also oversee the scholarship pastoral care of students in Years 10 and 11.

I joined QES as an Assistant Headteacher in September 2022, previously having undertaken pastoral and curriculum leadership roles within secondary schools in Preston and Barrow-in-Furness. My responsibilities at QES include the pastoral leadership of Key Stage 3 pupils including the transition from Year 6 to 7 and I’m one of the designated safeguarding leads. I have undertaken my SENDCO PGCE and have worked as a Literacy Consultant around the UK.

I joined QES and QEStudio in September 2022 as Director of Sixth Form, where I oversee the progress and pastoral care of post 16 students. I teach History and in the past I have worked as a Head of History, a Specialist Leader in Education and an Associate Tutor on the University of Manchester PGCE. 

I joined QES in 2018 as the Head of English. I still retain overall responsibility for that key department as well as Teaching &Learning in QEStudio. I also oversee our staff performance management programme
