Leadership

I joined QES in September 2020 and I am thrilled to be a part of the team. I ensure that our curriculum is reviewed, we consider student voice, and that we provide a comprehensive and inclusive education for all students. I work closely with our Pupil Premium and Learning Support team and ensure students have the best chance of achieving through various interventions. I am passionate about staff development, leading a peer coaching group of teachers and facilitating external qualifications which help to develop teachers across Cumbria. I also teach English and I contribute to the developments of literacy and reading across the Trust.

I joined QES as Assistant Headteacher in 2020 and was previously Assistant Headteacher of a smaller school in Cumbria. My principal focus is the health and well-being of both staff and students, which this year has primarily mean helping to coordinate our Covid response and support. I already feel very much at home in our happy, caring and vibrant school community. 

I’ve been a member of the Business department since 2000 and lead on the day to day operations within QEStudio including pastoral care. I also oversee Careers across the trust.

As well as teaching Chemistry I am the Designated Safeguarding Lead in school, liaising with external agencies where necessary. I also oversee the scholarship pastoral care of students in Years 10 and 11.

Having joined QES in 2018 as an English Teacher and Deputy Head of Year 7, I then moved to Head of Year 8 and 9. As Director of Key Stage 3, I now oversee the pastoral care of all students in Years 7-9, as well as supporting the transition process as students join us from Year 6.

I joined QES and QEStudio in September 2009 as Head of Science. I have been working closely with the leadership team since 2019 and became assistant headteacher in September 2024. I am involved in work on timetabling, assessment and curriculum across both schools. I teach Science and Maths. 

In addition to teaching Mathematics and Computer Science I am Director of Key Stage 4 where I oversee the pastoral care and academic progress of our Year 10 and Year 11 students in both schools.  I joined QES and QEStudio in September 2019, arriving from Birmingham where I was Subject Leader for Mathematics.

I joined QES and QEStudio in September 2022 as Director of Sixth Form, where I oversee the progress and pastoral care of post 16 students. I teach History and in the past I have worked as a Head of History, a Specialist Leader in Education and an Associate Tutor on the University of Manchester PGCE. 

I joined QES in 2018 as the Head of English. I still retain overall responsibility for that key department as well as Teaching &Learning in QEStudio. I also oversee our staff performance management programme
