Dear Parents and Carers
I’m writing in the week of our Autumn Music Concert which followed a half term full of so many successes and achievements of our young people; it was a fantastic end to this busy half term.
Today is a training day for colleagues with a clear focus on teaching and learning, positive behaviour, SEND and the importance of reading and supporting literacy and oracy in the classroom. It promises to be a positive day addressing some key development areas for us. Following today we move to the first half term break of the school year, and I’d like to thank you for your ongoing support of your child’s school during this important term.
Governance
As mentioned in earlier communications we have provision for 2 parent local governors and there is currently 1 vacancy. Please see the QES website for details or follow this link: https://qes.org.uk/vacancies/ I do hope you will consider volunteering for this position. We are very lucky to have Governors and Trustees willing to give of their time so generously for the children we serve and our schools behind the scenes. This link also takes you to other vacancies in our schools – Invigilators, Cleaners and a temporary part time Design Technology Teacher.
Behaviour Policy
Another update on our website is our Trust wide Behaviour Policy which was ratified at recent Board meeting. Please find the updated policy here. In particular I’d like to draw your attention to our ongoing stance on mobile phones. I would ask that in our efforts to reduce the disruption and concerns caused by mobile phones during the school day you contact School Reception should you need to communicate with your child between 8.40 and 3.10, rather than contacting them on their phones. Like most (if not all!) schools, we are really trying to be clear and consistent with this message – phones need to be switched off and in pupils’ bags throughout the school day.
Much has been happening since we returned in September, not least the whole school photographs – it was quite an operation to get over 1500 children and 200 colleagues together in such a way and like so many of our pupils I look forward to seeing the final pictures.
I hope you all have a lovely week next week and that the weather stays bright.
With ongoing best wishes
Cathy O’Neill
Executive Headteacher
