Dear Parents and Carers
As I send this on our last day of term I’m delighted that this year we have had our full Carol Services and ended the term with a return to such special community events. Speaking with every year group in assemblies about our long history, our community and our collective spirit celebrated together in the beautiful St Mary’s Church for many centuries has been the highlight of my days over this last few weeks. I’m never surprised to see how much it matters to young people and, since those days of Covid and the absence of them they really do feel even more precious.
Your generosity of spirit in providing donations for The Community Cupboard were wonderful and I know will make a difference to some families. We know that times can be difficult, especially over the Christmas period, and I would like to draw your attention to our website over the holidays if you are concerned about a child https://qes.org.uk/current-notices/
Last Christmas I sent parents and carers a picture painted by Wynne Williams, a former pupil of QES in the late 1800s, a picture I have shown all our pupils this term, located on the main corridor of QES amongst 7 others that we were given by his family. Below is another of his beautiful watercolours, and I’m sending it by way of a Christmas card to all our families wishing you a happy, healthy and safe Christmas.
With best wishes and continued gratitude for all your support this term.
